Cozy and stylish: more and more accommodations in South Tyrol have found the perfect mix of styles – like our 10 favorites.
Nature and comfort, fresh air and wellness, rest and move, hike and enjoy, cycle and sleep well – a beautiful hotel in the mountains is the best recipe for getting down. On the following pages we show you our 10 favorite hotels in South Tyrol.
Pension Maratscher / Algund. Doris Moser’s “Art-Pension” between Bolzano and Merano is unique. The rooms are lovingly and individually designed by local artists; other creatives have contributed details, the keychains are from the goldsmith from Merano. The house has an orchard (with hammock) and a beautiful breakfast terrace (with a view). DZ / F from 118 Euro (Algund, Mitterplars 30, Tel. 0473/44 84 69, www.maratscher.com ).
Design Hotel Tyrol / Parcines. 4 pools, mountain bikes (also with motor!), A great spa with really big windows for unobstructed views of nature, good food, nice design, yoga classes, Pilates and 240 kilometers of hiking trails in front of the door, which can be reached without a car. Who does not recover here … just have to stay longer. Double / F from 174 Euro (Partschins, Hans-Guet-Strasse 40, Tel. 0473/96 76 54, www.tyrol-hotel.it ).
The most fateful mini-bars in the world are in the rooms of Hotel Pupp in the middle of the old town of Bressanone. They are so seductively filled with fruit jellies and truffles, chocolate, nut mixes and single-malt whiskeys that you do not want to leave your room. Except for breakfast with fresh apple strudel and twelve different cheeses. In general the rooms: nice design, good quality! DZ / F from 178 Euro (Bressanone, Altenmarktgasse 36, Tel. 0472/26 83 55, www.small-luxury.it ).
La Majun / La Villa. Cozy is also possible in a modern way: designer sofas in front of rural lattice windows, art installations next to the deer antler – that suits. Also in the kitchen, where South Tyrolean sometimes fuses with Far Eastern. Despite street situation a hotel really to feel good. DZ / HB from 154 Euro (La Villa, Strada Colz 59, Tel. 0471/84 70 30, www.lamajun.it .).
Gloriette Guesthouse / Oberbozen. This guesthouse is really chic and urban – on the one hand. On the other hand, the B & B at Ritten is also committed to hiking and biking and nature and is – like almost all South Tyrolean hotels – in family hands. One of the highlights: Rooftop Spa with infinity pool, saunas and view awaits you on the roof after a strenuous hike or a stroll through Bolzano (Oberbozen, village 15, Tel. 0471/34 54 23, www.gloriette-guesthouse.com ).
Hotel Gartner / Dorf Tirol. A fresh breeze in the sixties: Barbara and Florian Gartner have given their family hotel near Meran clear lines and aesthetic tensions between loden, steel and old wood. This is good for the eye and the soul. Best to stay in the suites, which have their own access to the beautiful garden with its great views. Double / HB from 236 Euro (Dorf Tirol, Hauptstrasse 65, Tel. 0473/92 34 14, www.hotelgartner.it ).
Pension Briol / Barbian-Dreikirchen. Everything that is not there, increases the luxury: no running water in the rooms, no heating, of course, no TV. For infinite rest, earthen wash basins, fire, scrubbed floorboards – and a (unheated) swimming pool in front of the door, including “unbelievable !!!” – view of the Dolomites. The Pension “Briol” high above the Eisacktal, built in 1928 in the style of the peasant Bauhaus, remains faithful to its reduced line – and that is exactly what many regulars love. Double / HB from 170 Euro (Barbian-Dreikirchen, Tel. 0471/65 01 25, www.briol.it ).
Bad Moss / Sexten. In the morning, take a dip in the warm outdoor pool with a view of the Dolomites. Then on the sun terrace or in the spa department. If you like it sporty, hike to the next alpine hut. And in the evening, enjoy the wonderful menu. Spacious rooms, modern and cozy designed with lots of felt and wood. DZ / HP from 256 Euro (Fischleintalstrasse 27, Sesto / Moos, Tel. 0474/71 31 00, www.badmoos.it ).
The Küglerhof / Dorf Tirol. The house in modern lodge-style is located on the southern slope of the village of Tyrol and has little to do with alpine architecture. But you can already enjoy the mountain view through the large windows – or in warm weather from the terrace or the outdoor pool. Right at the house you can go hiking – or make your way with the mountain or e-bikes. Double / HB from 324 Euro (Dorf Tirol, Haslach Str. 82, Tel. 0473/923 399, www.kueglerhof.it) .
Eggerhöfe / Antholz-Mittertal. Walls, floors, tables and beds are made of untreated larch wood. Beautiful contrast to the rustic base: the monochromatic fitted kitchens in dark red and anthracite. Delicious scents also rise from the age-old farmhouse next door, where the hosts serve gray cheese and bacon from their own production. Apartment for two persons from 80 Euro (Antholz-Mittertal, Eggerhöfe 42, Tel. 0474/49 30 30, www.eggerhoefe.it ).
