The delightful boutique hotel with the irritating bling-bling name is located in the middle of the alleyways and staircase of the car-free old town in a lovingly restored palace from the 15th century. 2 King Kresimir

In the lobby, bright orange velvet sofas and antique gatherings enter into a fiery style alliance, the rooms are simple and modern. 3 Hotel Maestral

The 2.5 square kilometer dainty island of Prvic is just over half an hour’s boat ride from Šibenik – and here you will find absolute peace, crystal clear water and fishing boats bobbing in the sun. In the former school building you can stay between purist furniture and stone walls and can hear the sea blazing lying in bed. 4 Pelegrini

Rudi Štefan more than deserves his star: The menus that he serves directly from the Šibenik cathedral by impeccable staff are not just food, they are operas! Delicious: the modernized version of the traditional cevapcici (grilled minced meat rolls), octopus and delicious sauces. Three-course menu for proud, but worthwhile 77 euros (Jurja Dalmatinca 1, Tel 003 85/22 21 37 01, www.pelegrini.hr ).

5 Fort Barons

Restored since 2016, the fortress high above the old town serves only local products – “Coca Cola” is in vain. Great are the hearty ham and cheese platter for 15 euros, the homemade salty pistachio ice cream for 4 euros and regional schnapps (Put Vuka Mandušica 28, www.barone.hr ).

6 Konoba San Antonio

Playful vintage-style café-restaurant with old books and lights in the middle of the old town of Šibenik. On the nice terrace you can drink wonderful wine (for example, the white “Malvazija Laguna” for 4 euros) and homemade lavender cake (4 euros) eat (Dobric 1).

7 Tomaseo

Directly on the harbor promenade is the classier, styled restaurant , where you get fantastic fish dishes and a beefsteak with truffle sauce for 20 euros. The only catch: no terrace (Obala dr. Franje Tudmana e, Tel. 003 85/22 21 92 54).

8 vintage bar

Scenic with discreet Punkrockflair, young, alternative audience and delicious schnapps from 2 Euro. Sometimes there is live music inside and on the square (Prolaz B. Dulibica 4).

Shopping in Šibenik

9 Zlan and Prvic

On the islands of Zlarin and Prvic and on the local fruit and vegetable markets, old women offer on the road self-pressed olive, rosemary and other herbal oils that are so delicious that you want to drink them directly - be sure to look for them !

10 Zlarinka

Yes, it has a bit of "Come, look my shop!", But in the small jewelery manufactory on the island of Zlarin you get the most beautiful coral jewelery, whose production on the island has been a tradition for more than 600 years. From the costly necklace to the discreet bracelet there is something for every purse (Zlarin, Niz Bebana bb, www.koralji-zlarinka.hr ).

11 Charlie Design

Futuristic fashion by Croatian designers, daring, partly asymmetrical, yet quite wearable creations of leather and chiffon - and only in black, white, silver or blue (Dobric bb, www.charlie-design.hr ).

The shop is a paradise for fans of Bömmelchen, embroidered bags, colorful patterned flutter blouses - and all those who think simplicity is completely overrated (Dobric 6).

13 Krka National Park

You can see Winnetou literally riding through the area - all our childhood movie was filmed in this spectacular natural scenery. In the rushing waterfalls it bathes formidable, with the ship you sail through fjord-like waters and can also climb some rocks themselves. Entrance from 4 euros, boat tour 13.50 euros (the entrance Skradin, just 15 km from Šibenik away, located directly at the jetty, a short boat ride is included from here, www.nationalpark-krka.de ).

14 islands Zlarin and Prvic

By ferry from Šibenik in about half an hour over to the wonderful quiet, car-free spots where you can visit small churches, eat fresh fish, wonderful swimming and stroll in peace. Great is the museum Faust Vrancic on Prvic. Vrancic was next to Leonardo da Vinci probably the greatest inventor of the Renaissance (tickets at Jadrolinija-Agencija Šibenik, Obala dr. Franje Tudmana 7).

15 Cathedral of Saint James

A feast for eyes and artistry is this renaissance building, and for hours you can see the many, for their time state-of-the-art details inside and on the façade - the outside frieze with 71 heads of ordinary citizens and even pets (Trg Republike Hrvatske 1).

16 Vinarija Baraka

In the area around Šibenik there are many wineries, but the very least is that of Filip Baraka, where excellent wines are produced in small numbers. A tasting with Filip, who incidentally speaks perfect English, is a great pleasure! 6,50 to 21,50 Euro per nose from 4 persons (Bogdanovici 36, Tel. 003 85/98 33 79 93, filip@baraka.co ).

... to bathe! The water is crystal clear everywhere, and the delightful Banj beach in Šibenik offers a postcard view of the old town. Do not forget bathing shoes, it is rocky!

... to hike high above the picturesque village of Primošten (30 km south of Šibenik) on an adventurous gravel road to the Black Madonna of Loreto.
